On May 29, 2009, we found out we were expecting our first child... it was such an exciting time. We told each other that we would wait until 12 weeks to tell anyone, but before we knew it, our mom's knew, then our siblings... then it spread to friends.... the was no containing the excitement. We scheduled our first doctor's appointment and got to see our little peanut on the screen for the first time, and hear the fast little heartbeat.
Everything with the pregnancy was going great... no morning sickness, just an aversion to any kind of meat... I was tired, but who isn't when they are pregnant. We had our 12 week testing, and everything looked great... We were counting down to 20 weeks to find out if we were having a boy or girl.. and soon enough it came... on September 15, 2009 we found out we were expecting a little boy... his name Timothy Joseph. I remember Timmy going outside between the ultrasound and meeting with the doctor to make phone calls and announce he was going to have a son. Again, everything looked good, and we both felt like we were going good, already half way through the pregnancy!

On September 20, we were attending a rehearsal dinner in Milford, when something just didn't feel right. It's one thing that every mother knows... when you're pregnant, you're not supposed to bleed. We called the doctor's and rushed back to Stamford Hospital, where we were seen immediately. Never did we think we would end up there... I was almost 21 weeks along, but my body had started to dilate... not something you want to hear, because you know that something is wrong. I was admitted, and waited on a high-risk doctor to come in. That's the night we met, Dr Richard Viscarello.
We had decisions we had to make, and it was a quick decision... do whatever we had to to save our son... The following day I went through an amniocentesis, and then waited to go into the OR to have an emergent cerclage placed... I was then placed on strict hospital bed rest for the next 10-12 weeks. There were ups and downs of the hospital stay... but on October 22, 2009, I began having contractions, and later that day, I underwent another amniocentesis, and I was going to be moved to Columbia in NYC... but while they were making all the transportation arrangements, my water broke... the OR was set up and I was taken in. Timothy Joseph was born at 9:28pm, letting out a faint cry... and then flew home to Heaven at 9:57pm.
